7 Deadly Mistakes To Make On Twitter
Twitter has been a good source of traffic for websites and much so leads for a business. However, it is a sad fact that Twitter has now become an avenue for Internet and affiliate marketers to stay around and post tweets to promote a product.
This has make Twitter full of garbage (tweets) and eventually shooing away people who could have become your leads.
Before you even start and creating your very own Twitter account, you need to read through the list of 7 deadly mistakes to make on Twitter:
1. Creating A Default Profile
What’s a default profile, it is quite simple. All you need to do is sign up fill up the form which asks for your full name, username, password and email. That’s about it. Then, you eventually start posting tweets. Big, big, big mistake! Signing up is more than simple filling up the form. You need to go on details like your website if any, place where you live, and etc.
Your account would look like one that is generated by a robot and not a real person. Create a profile that is real.
2. Uploading Fake Avatar (Photo)
The tendency of some people who did follow through the process of creating a profile making it look a real profile but did not even bother to upload a real and genuine photo. Taking a photo from an image searched at Google or Yahoo images is what some people are doing. While some are putting in some horrible photos that do not make sense at all.
It is very important when it comes to your avatar, it should best represent you and that you own full copyrights to it. If people on Twitter see you’re a genuine person with genuine intentions for sure they will follow on you.
3. Following People On Random
This has been the common practice on Twitter. In order to gain followers, they just follow people on random. Even if the persons that are being followed have no chance to be relevant to you especially lead generation wise. You never know you are following an Internet or affiliate marketer that will fill up your home page and inboxes with spams.
Instead of following people in this manner, you better choose who you are going to follow. Remember, chances are they are going to follow you back and become your followers. Eventually, they will see your tweets right at their homepage. Use the “find people” tab located at the upper right. You put in names of people you have been looking for. In this way, you will be pretty sure you are following real people and not robots. Take a sneak peek of their tweets too. If they are talking on a more personal level for sure they are not marketers but real people who only want to interact with other people.
4. Posting Tweets with Links After Signing Up
For sure, you are excited to spread the news and get traffic for your website or have some people buy the products you are promoting right away. But this should not be the case. Establish in the Twitter community that you are a real person who wants nothing but to interact with people and share knowledge or information for the benefit of others.
Never attempt to post links to your website on first couple of days or weeks. Take your time and establish a good reputation in the community.
5. Marketing, marketing, marketing
If what you got in your brain is purely marketing a product. You will never go anywhere. Stop this nonsense. Be real for once. Remember, people are there to update people on what’s what and interacting with other members as well and not to shop around and buy something. If they are not, they should have been in eBay by now and not in Twitter. Start projecting to the community that you are there to interact with other members.
6. Spamming your followers
What would you feel when you open your direct messages and all you get is a spam? Annoying isn’t it? This is what Twitter members do feel too. Therefore, never even attempt to spam followers with links and links. Start building relationship with them and once they are comfortable on talking with you or have full trust with you, start sharing the links. In this way, there is a greater chance they will click the link and just ignore it.
7. Creating multiple accounts
This is what marketers often do. They create multiple accounts in order to promote a certain product. It might look not obvious to some but it is quite annoying to most of Twitter members. When all they get is the same tweets but coming from different Twitter accounts.
Do you want to create a name in the Twitter community as a spammer? Of course you don’t want, right? Avoid making multiple accounts then. Stick to one and make it grow.
